A Bit About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Davide Borghi. I was born and bred in northern Italy, near Varese, more precisely in a town called Gallarate. After graduating in Art History from Milan University I moved to Sweden. This is where my passion for being an official tour guide began, something I hadn’t previously planned on doing. After many years spent working there I felt like something was missing in my life and after a long time of reflecting about what it was, I finally got an answer: it was Italy. I was missing home.

I returned to Italy and set my sights on living in Rome. Rome was a very important step in my tour guiding experience as it was the first place where I got licensed in Italy and the place that renewed my burning passion for the history of my country (it still feels like home a little bit). But still…the place where I had my roots was constantly in my thoughts, and the 2020 pandemic finally made me make the leap of faith. So I left Rome and moved to Lake Maggiore with Chiara and that´s where new ideas started to come alive! That’s when the most significant project of all fell into place, which became known as Umbrella Tours! Together with Chiara, I bring all the passions of a lifetime to the tours.

I love history and art. I love to tell stories and I have a great passion for good food and drinks, especially when I am together with others. I even have some experience as a professional cook! I love the diversity of my beloved northern Italy, the mountains and hiking in nature. I am intrigued by my own local culture as well as discovering new cultures. I love to have fun and spend time with people who don´t take themselves too seriously
